Artwork Title : The Tide Rises, The Tide Falls
Inspired by the poem “The Tide Rises, the Tide Falls” by American poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, installation artist Chi-yung Wong draws from the poem’s depiction of tides and waves to explore the subtle balance between eternal cycles and the transient nature of life. Wong believes that there exists a complex interconnectedness among all things, with neither a beginning nor an end.
The installation uses delicate threads to symbolize human paths and connections, revealing intricate patterns through special lighting. The existence of all things is like these fragmented lines of light, fragments of flowing energy that piece together to shape the world, much like the tides and waves that connect us within the wheel of time.
