1981 年香港嶺海藝術專科學校畢業，在香港話劇團師從黃璇基研習戲劇化妝，此後活躍於香港和海外劇院，還涉獵電影和電視製作，多次獲得香港戲劇協會最佳化妝設計獎。1994 年，獲得亞洲文化協會獎學金，前往紐約、三藩市和荷李活考察研究和文化交流。1995 年，客席香港演藝學院教授戲劇化妝。 2007 年創立 Splash Makeup Workshop，探索和推廣化妝藝術教學。 2011 至 2017 年，為澳門演藝學院策劃並講授兩年製舞台化妝課程。 2017 至 2021 年, 香港演藝學院講師(髮型/化妝)。 2020 年，出版《亞洲面孔的美學密碼》。 間中粉墨登場，曾參與的演出有《紅土》、《精英精嬰》、《巴黎 公社興亡錄》、《狂歌李杜》、《親愛的, 胡雪巖》、《望春風》 (新加坡/香港)、《元州街茱莉亞 小姐不再在這裡》(香港/北京/東 京)、《母親》(香港/台北)、《大路西游》、《七重天》、《大路西遊 2 之 (阿) 公審三藏》、《大鬧天宮》、《布萊希特。周恩來 二三事》、《紫玉成煙》。

Chan complete the diploma of Fine Art in 1981 from the Hong Kong Ling Hai Academy of Art and started theatrical makeup training by Wong Suen Kee (黃璇基) in Hong Kong Repertory Theatre. Subsequently active at theaters in Hong Kong and overseas, he also dipping in film and television production. He won the Best Makeup Design Award of the Hong Kong Drama Association a few times.

 

In 1994, he received the scholarship by Asian Cultural Council to U.S.A. for research and cultural exchange at The Metropolitan Opera and La MaMa Theatre in New York, The San Francisco Opera House and Sony-Paramount Studio in Hollywood.

 

He was the guest lecturer of theatrical make-up at the HKAPA in 1995 and established Splash Make-up Workshop to explore the art of makeup in 2007 and published The Aesthetic Coding of Asian Face in 2020.

 

During 2011~2017, he designed and lectured the Stage Makeup Programme (for 2 years) for the Macau Conservatory for Performing Arts. And he was the lecturer (Wig/makeup) at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts from 2017 to 2021.

 

He also performed on the stage intermittently such as Red Soil, My Bady, My Treasure , The Poets Li and Du, The Days of the Commune , My Dear Wu Suet Ngam, Behold the Spring Wind, Miss Julie doesn’t live here anymore,  Mother,  Heading West,  The Seventh Drawer,   Heading West 2:The Curious Case of Sanzang,  O you Heavenly Creatures! , bertolt Brecht and Zhou Enlai Two Live, One Sky, Waiting Heart.
