Production Information

Name of Exhibit: “Tribute to Dr Thomas Brown”

Design Concept

Inspired by 5 legendary dance artists-cum-educators of the Hong Kong dance scene, namely Willy Tsao, Mui Cheuk Yin, Yuri Ng, Aaron Wan and Dr Thomas Brown, moulds of whose feet were made 12 years ago. The work not only allows the audience to retrace their footsteps to artistic success, but also sheds light on how they built such strong feet under trainings and performances through sculpture. In memory of Dr Thomas Brown, whose untimely passing was a huge loss to the local dance community, the exhibit serves to honour his immense contribution to nurturing generations of finest dance talents with his tireless efforts and passion towards dance and the stage.

On exhibit is the mentioned moulds reflected by a one-way mirror. Upon triggering the sensor the mould of Dr Brown’s feet unveils, passing his spirit on to viewers.
